About Mr

Mr. Mohamed Abdel-Aty is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with over 40 years of expertise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He graduated from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, in 1979, and completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the West Midlands. Mr. Abdel-Aty has worked in various prominent medical centres, including Worcester Acute Hospitals Trust and East Lancashire, where he has significantly contributed to the field.As a leading consultant in laparoscopic (keyhole) gynaecology, Mr. Abdel-Aty introduced laparoscopic hysterectomy at East Lancashire Hospitals in 2011. His advanced training in laparoscopic surgery has also led him to become a trainer for registrars on both basic and advanced laparoscopy techniques. He has played a pivotal role in achieving Endometriosis Centre accreditation at East Lancashire Hospitals.In addition to his clinical expertise, Mr. Abdel-Aty serves as Chair of Gynaecology at NSSG for South Cumbria and Lancashire and is the Senior Consultant of Gynaecology at East Lancashire Women’s and Newborn Centre in Burnley. He also conducts ATS training in benign gynaecology surgery.Mr. Abdel-Aty's clinical interests include hysterectomy surgery, cervical smears, colposcopy, endometrial ablation, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy investigations and treatments, ovarian cyst removal, reversal of female sterilisation, menopause, sexual health, and endometriosis.He was awarded the Endometriosis Primrose Award in 2018 in recognition of his significant contributions to the field.
