Mrs Monika Vij is a Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in Uro-gynaecology with over 20 years of experience. She is based in Swansea and Newport and currently sees private patients at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital and St Joseph's Private Hospital.She completed her medical degree at Kanpur University, India in 1996 followed by her Master's degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2000. She later moved to the UK and completed further postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2020 she was awarded her MD for her research work from Plymouth University. Mrs Vij is also a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.Mrs Vij is the only accredited subspecialist in urogynaecology in wales. She has specialist expertise in pelvic floor prolapse, incontinence, mesh related complications, pelvic pain, post-pregnancy pelvic floor problems and recurrent urinary tract infections. She also has expertise in treating general gynaecological conditions such as menorrhagia and pelvic pain. She performs a wide range of gynaecological surgeries for prolapse and incontinence, including non-mesh procedures.Mrs Vij uses a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and services she offers, working closely with specialist physiotherapists and nurses to ensure her patients receive the best care and experience the best outcomes.
