Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Miss Annette Reid is a passionate and dedicated Consultant Gynaecologist with a special interest in complex gynaecolgical surgery and benign gynaecology. She is not only someone who is highly skilled, but someone who will take time to listen to her patients, and delivers care at a high level incoroporating a holistic approach to helping women achieve their health goals. Miss Reid has vast experience in treating many gynaecological problems including pelvic pain, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, early pregnancy problems and vulva conditions. She also has significant expertise in performing advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for simple and complex procedures such as hysterectomies, myomectomies and removal of all types of benign ovarian cysts and endometriosis. She also specialises in both outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopies and inpatient hysterocopic procedures for polyps, fibroids and heavy menstrual bleeding. She is a registered colposcopist with the British Society or Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), and previously served as lead for Benign Vulva pathology. Miss Reid obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Biomedical Sciences from King's College London in 1997. Her MBBS medical degree was undertaken at Guy's, King's & St.Thomas' (GKT) School of Medicine/University of London, where she qualified with a Distinction in 2002. She pursued three years of surgical training, passing the MRCS (1&2) postgraduate exams, before turning her attention to Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 2015, she received a Postgraduate Diploma with Merit from the University of Surrey for Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy skills as well as ultrasound qualifications related to early pregnancy and gynaecology following honorary training at King's College Hospital, London. Additionally, Miss Reid acquired Advanced Skills Modules (ATSMs) in Benign Open and Laparoscopic Surgery and Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology along with Labour Ward Practice. Miss Reid is skilled and experienced in gynaecological ultrasound scanning and investigate and manage early pregnancy problems such as vaginal bleeding and pain. She also specialises in Gynaecology scanning, differentiating ovarian cysts, for example. In her current Consultant role at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, she provides second opinion scans for early pregnancy as well as dealing with acute gynaecological cases.
