About Ms

Ms Sonia Chachan is a Consultant Gynaecologist. She practices privately at the Spire, manchester and for the NHS at Stepping Hill Hospital.  She first trained in India, at the University of Calcutta, and underwent further specialist training in the United Kingdom. She has a wide general scope within gynaecology, and holds a lead role for hysteroscopy and colposcopy within the department at Stepping Hill Hospital.  Ms Chachan's special clinical interests include the management of women with menstrual disorders, as well as pelvic pain and problems with the cervix, such as abnormal smears. Her ‘one-stop' clinic is geared towards the treatment and investigation of these problems, with the intention of minimising the number of visits necessary. She is also interested in the academic side of Gynaecology, regularly attending academic conferences. She is actively involved in the training and education of nurses, GPs and junior doctors. Ms Chachan has a membership of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the British Menopause Society, and the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
