Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr Chin Hooi Gan is a consultant gynaecologist and gynaecology cancer lead at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust where he has been based since 2008. He is also the lead gynaecologist for Elland Spire Hospital Endometriosis Centre. His clinical interests are endometriosis, hysterectomy, and laparoscopic surgery (including myomectomy), and he typically sees patients with pelvic pain, menorrhagia, menopause, or menstrual disorders. Some of the procedures Mr Gan performs include laparoscopic hysterectomy surgery, hysteroscopy procedure, colposcopy, and endometrial ablation surgery. Mr Gan has particular expertise in laparoscopic surgery for advanced complex endometriosis including radical pelvic peritoneum resection and resection of rectovaginal septum endometriosis. He is also an expert in performing laparoscopic hysterectomy in patients with high BMI, which can now be performed as a day procedure. Mr Gan is also skilled in natural orifice transvaginal endoscopic surgery (NOTES), which is a minimally invasive technique that allows for hysterectomy bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy surgery to be performed without the need for abdominal incision and potential scarring. Mr Gan achieved his medical degree in 1996 from Universiti Kebangsaan in Malaysia, before becoming a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK in 2002. He is also a member of the Bristiah Society of Gynaecology Endoscopy (BSGE), British Gynaecology Cancer Society (BGCS)and the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP). Outside of the hospital, Mr Gan enjoys spending time with his two children and watercolour painting.
