Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr Rowan Connell is a Consultant Gynaecologist who has been a consultant in Kent since 2003; previously working as registrar in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust, Benenden Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital in London. He ia a general gynaecologist treats a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions, with special interests in Urogynaecology (the treatment of urinary incontinence and prolapse), the treatment of heavy periods and Minimal Access Surgery (keyhole surgery). Well trained in these techniques, Mr Connell also maintains communication with close contacts in Europe to ensure he remains up to date with the latest techniques. Mr Connell has left the NHS in 2019 to become Medical Director at Benenden Hospaital [and laterly Chief Medical Officer of the Benenden Gtroup]. He co-leads the running of several services as a consultant in his present post. He has been the lead in setting up a laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy ("day-case hysterectomy") service in the private sector and the NHS. Mr Connell also enjoys teaching, setting up and running several courses, while also presenting at national and international conferences on various topics. He has also published broadly around Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
