About Mr

Mr Summi Abdul is a Consultant specialising in Gynaecological cancer, Keyhole and Robotic Gynaecological cancer surgery, working for the Royal Derby Hospital. He is a specialist expert in gynaecological cancers, colposcopy, painful and abnormal periods, ovarian cysts, painful intercourse, Bleeding after intercourse and vulval conditions. He is a leading international expert in keyhole hysterectomy with audited data of over 2500 laparoscopic hysterectomies showing average operating time of 63 minutes and conversion rate of less than 1:420. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Leeds University in 1995. Following this, he worked in several Centres of Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This includes St James's Hospital (Leeds), Leeds General Infirmary, The John Radcliffe (Oxford), Bradford Royal Infirmary, Sheffield Royal Infirmary and the Royal Derby Hospital. Having worked in many hospitals he has significantly developed his clinical experience which has added to his years of expertise in gynaecology and obstetrics. In 2006, Mr Abdul achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Subspecialist certification in Gynaecological Oncology. Following this he was appointed the title Consultant. Within this clinical field, he has a particular interest in Keyhole surgery. He is a renowned expert in performing this type of surgery, having taught Consultants both nationally and internationally. Furthermore, he is the Founder and Director of the DELTA centre. Mr Abdul also holds a membership with several organisations including the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists and the British Gynaecological Cancer Society.
