Miss Josephine Sandwell is an experienced Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 18 years of clinical expertise. She currently holds a substantive NHS consultant position at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where she is Clinical Lead for Gynaecology Outpatients. In addition to her NHS role, she also sees patients privately at The Harley Street Clinic and the Women’s Health Centre in London. Miss Sandwell completed her undergraduate medical degree at University College London and specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across London and the South East. She pursued advanced postgraduate training in minimal access surgery, focusing on the surgical treatment of endometriosis and fibroids, and uses ultrasound to support surgical planning when necessary. Alongside her clinical practice, Miss Sandwell is dedicated to medical education, contributing to the training of future specialists and regularly speaking at professional meetings, including those organised by the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). She has also undertaken specialist training in menopause and family planning, allowing her to offer a holistic, personalised approach to patient care, helping women understand the impact of diagnoses on fertility, family planning, and menopause. Her subspecialties include gynaecology and laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery. She performs a wide range of procedures, such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, fibroid surgery, diagnostic laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, fertility preservation, and menopause management. She treats a variety of conditions including adenomyosis, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and premature ovarian insufficiency.
