I fell in love with my specialty from the first time I walked onto a labour ward as a medical student in London in the 1980s and watched the birth of a baby. From then onwards I wanted to be an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. After qualification I trained in South London
Oxford and Bristol regions
finally specialising in the field of reproductive medicine as lecturer to Professor Lord Robert Winston at Hammersmith Hospital.
Since I qualified
healthcare has undergone a huge change in both clinical services and the way in which those services are funded and provided. Throughout this time
I have grown in experience and confidence but the one thing that has not changed is my commitment to care for patients and their families. Being a doctor for 31 years
a local NHS consultant for 20 years
living
working and bringing up a family have given me a unique perspective and aspiration to serve the community within which I live and care for.
