With over 25 years of experience in obstetrics, Dr.Charlotte Deans is a highly regarded Consultant Obstetrician based in London,renowned for her expertise in maternal mental health and intrapartum care. She is deeply committed to supporting women through both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies, ensuring their safety while respecting and empowering their personal choices for childbirth. Dr. Deans expertly balances evidence-based care, advocating for natural labour experiences or gentle, calm caesareans, tailoring her approach to meet each woman’s unique needs and wishes. A strong advocate for education and clear communication, Dr. Deans believes these are essential in helping women enjoy their pregnancies and approach birth with confidence. She is passionate about empowering women to make informed decisions that align with their values and birth goals. Dr. Deans has a longstanding dedication to maternal mental health, providing crucial support for women navigating emotional and psychological challenges. As the Clinical Lead for the Perinatal Mental Health Service at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, she specialises in trauma-informed care during childbirth, ensuring her patients experience both safety and empathy. In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Deans holds a Diploma in Clinical Risk Management from Capsticks Law Firm. She has led the Maternity Risk Management Team at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital for over 10 years and was later appointed as the Clinical Lead for Patient Safety for the entire Trust. She continues to work closely with the medicolegal team, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of her practice, both in clinical care and governance. As Service Director for the Kensington Wing, Dr. Deans collaborates with the midwifery and management teams to maintain the highest standards of governance and safety in private care, extending the same principles of excellence to all her patients. Dr. Deans graduated from St Mary’s Hospital in 1996 and completed her specialist training in Northwest London. Her career was further enriched by a two-year registrar position in Sydney, Australia, providing her with a global perspective on obstetric care.
