About Dr.

Dr Suranjan Ghoshal is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Oaklands Hospital. He has over 35 years of experience in general Gynecology and Obstetrics with a special interest in urogynaecology and ambulatory gynecology. Over 32 years of this was in the UK. He qualified in 1985 (MBBS) from Calcutta Medical College (the very first Medical School established by the British Crown in the whole of South East Asia).  Following the initial qualification, he undertook intensive training in gynecology and obstetrics and attained a number of postgraduate qualifications (DGO, DICOG, DNB-OG) in the specialty. He moved over to the UK in 1993 and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1996 and after completing his higher training was awarded CCT in 2006. Dr Ghoshal has been an NHS consultant since 2006 and was awarded the prestigious Fellowship (FRCOG) by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 2012 for his contribution. He completed special skills training in urodynamics in 2006 with eminent urogynaecologist Mr ARB Smith at St Marys Hospital, Manchester, and was awarded SSM certificate by the RCOG. He has a special interest in medical education and has completed SSM in Medical Education in 2007 leading to Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He is an examiner for medical students at Manchester University; international medical graduates with GMC (PLAB) and OG specialist trainees at RCOG (MRCOG examination). Dr Ghoshal has a lovely family, with his wife now retired from the NHS and his son, after graduating in Medicine at Cambridge University is currently in training as a Psychiatrist. Dr Ghoshal loves spending time with his family including travelling within and outside the UK. He enjoys playing badminton and also loves to restore old appliances for the household and friends in his spare time.
