About Mr

Mr David Penman is a Consultant Gynaecologist with over a decade of experience in the treatment and management of heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, PCOS, miscarriage and fetal medicine. He sees private patients at the Spire Alexandria Hospital.Dr Penman earned his primary medical qualification at the St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School, the University of London in 1984, after which he gained membership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1993. He also completed his basic and advanced specialist training in maternal and fetal medicine and his senior registrar training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Bristol, at St. Michael's Hospital. During this time spent training, Dr. Penman gained interest in menstrual disorders such as PCOS and endometriosis, and the treatment of these disorders via laparoscopic surgery. He also gained knowledge and expertise in the treatment of fibroids and endometrial polyps without resulting in hysterectomy.Upon completion of his training, Dr. Penman was appointed Consultant in 1977, where he has since specialised in the treatment of menstrual disorders and pre-natal baby scanning for fetal abnormalities. He has worked full-time private practice since 2006.He has been married to his wife, Helen since 1987 and has four children and 2 grandchildren. Outside his work, he is a keen gardener and amateur military historian and has spent the last 8 years researching a Field Ambulance unit during the First World War
