Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr. Hooman Soleymani Majd is an experienced consultant in gynaecological oncology at the Churchill Cancer Centre in Oxford, a role he has held since 2017. He began his career in obstetrics and gynaecology in London before completing his structured postgraduate training in Oxford, where he earned a certificate of completion of training and became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He further developed his expertise with three years of sub-specialty training in gynaecological oncology at the Churchill Cancer Centre. As a BSCCP-accredited colposcopist and trainer, Mr. Soleymani Majd is a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS), the International Society for Placenta Accreta Spectrum (IS-PAS), and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He is a skilled surgeon with particular expertise in ultra-radical surgery for advanced ovarian cancer, including upper abdominal surgery, liver mobilisation, and diaphragmatic reconstruction. Mr. Soleymani Majd also has a strong interest in the surgical management of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) and is a founding member of the OxPAT group. Additionally, he is part of the Oxford Complex Pelvic Surgery (Exenterative Surgery) and Sarcoma teams. Beyond his clinical work, Mr. Soleymani Majd is dedicated to medical education, mentoring registrars, fellows, and students at Oxford University. He is actively involved in research on advanced surgical techniques for ovarian cancer, having published extensively in leading journals. He has also recently initiated a special series of high-impact articles on “Evolutions in the Management of Advanced Ovarian Cancer” for the Gynaecology and Pelvic Medicine journal. Mr. Soleymani Majd has collaborated with renowned researchers both in the UK and internationally. He has authored several book chapters and is a prolific contributor to peer-reviewed journals. He is co-editor of a new Oxford Surgical Handbook, set to be published by Oxford University Press. As an invited speaker at numerous international congresses and webinars, he also serves on the editorial boards of four international journals and was recently appointed Associate Editor-in-Chief of Translational Cancer Research (TCR). In addition to his NHS role, Mr. Soleymani Majd serves as a visiting professor at Guangxi Medical University Cancer Hospital in Nanning, China. He also treats private patients at Nuffield Health, the Manor Hospital. Between 2021 and 2024, he was honoured with the iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence for outstanding patient care.
