Mr. Janos Z. Balega earned his Medical Doctor degree from Semmelweis University of Medical Sciences in 1996
followed by specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology completed in 2001.
He further advanced his expertise by completing subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology through the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2008. In addition to his training in Hungary
Mr. Balega enhanced his skills with a fellowship in the United States and advanced oncology training at prestigious institutions in the UK.

Mr. Janos Z. Balega is a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist with over 20 years of experience, trained in Hungary and the UK, with additional fellowship training in Indianapolis, USA. He completed his subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology at renowned London institutions, including St Bartholomew’s and The Royal Marsden Hospitals.Mr. Balega specialises in cancer surgery with a strong focus on minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques. His expertise covers a wide range of gynaecological conditions such as ovarian cysts, period problems, postmenopausal bleeding, HPV infections, and abnormal smears. He is highly skilled in laparoscopic surgery, including day-case hysterectomies, radical hysterectomies for cervical cancer, and fertility-sparing surgeries.As lead surgeon at the Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre and founder of the Women’s Cancer Clinic, Mr. Balega plays a pivotal role in advancing care for women with gynaecological cancers. He is also the risk lead for the Pan-Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre, ensuring patient safety and efficient care delivery.In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Balega is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He contributes to the wider medical community through his role on the Clinical Advisory Panel of Target Ovarian Cancer and regularly reviews for the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
