About Mr

Mr. Rajiv Varma is a Consultant Gynaecologist based at Nufffield Health and Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex, where he offers private gynaecological care in a clean and comfortable environment. His clinical practice is focused on providing high-quality surgical care for a range of pelvic conditions. Initially trained as a gynaecological oncologist, Mr. Varma later chose to specialise in pelvic reconstructive surgery. His expertise now includes operations for pelvic prolapse and urinary incontinence, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. This approach allows him to perform complex vaginal reconstructive surgeries with minimal discomfort and faster recovery times, often eliminating the need for overnight hospital stays. Additionally, his techniques often preserve the uterus in cases of uterine prolapse, thereby avoiding the need for hysterectomy. At Nuffield health and Spire Hartswood Hospital, Mr. Varma also provides a colposcopy service for women requiring further investigation following abnormal cervical smear tests. His dedication to advancing gynaecological care extends beyond his clinical practice. He is an internationally recognised figure in his field, having lectured and led surgical workshops in South America, the US, Europe, India, Nepal, and Hong Kong. He is skilled in training other consultants in the latest techniques for prolapse and incontinence surgery.  Mr. Varma served as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Basildon University Hospital from 1992 to 2012 and held the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College Hospital London. Mr Varma now only sees private patients since leaving NHS in 2012. He is also the inventor of a device called Fetal PIllow that is used all over the world and has saved many complication for mothers and babies arising from difficult cesarean sections
