Dr Shabnam Taheri qualified with merit from the Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2008 and is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a substantive post at St Mary’s Hospital, London. She has a specialist interest in the management of fibroids, with particular expertise in novel and minimally invasive techniques. Dr Taheri manages the full spectrum of benign gynaecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain and painful periods.She completed her doctorate at Imperial College London, focusing on innovative minimally invasive treatments for fibroids, alongside a two-year fellowship in the specialist fibroid clinic at St Mary’s Hospital. Her research has been published in international journals and presented at national and international conferences. Dr Taheri continues to be actively involved in research into treatments for fibroids and adenomyosis, including uterine artery embolisation and radiofrequency ablation, and played a key role in introducing radiofrequency ablation for fibroids at St Mary’s in 2016, making it the first hospital in the UK to offer this treatment.
