About Dr

Mr. Bivas Biswas is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist currently seeing private patients at the Royal Derby Hospital, Derby Private Health, The Park Hospital Nottingham, Ramsay Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital and the Nottingham Road Clinic. He completed his medical degree and postgraduate studies at the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, India, spanning from 1993 to 2006. During this time, he was appointed as a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at CMC, Vellore, where he served from 2006 to 2009. In November 2009, Mr. Biswas relocated to the East Midlands, UK, where he underwent retraining, completing his training in April 2016. Since November 2015, he has been serving as a Consultant within the NHS, initially at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and presently at the tertiary referral centre in Derby, accredited for urogynaecology by the British Society of Urogynaecology in January 2023. Specialising in the care of women with pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, Mr. Biswas provides comprehensive services including diagnostic and operative procedures such as pelvic floor repairs, cystoscopy, urethroscopy, urethral bulking, Botulinum Toxin injections, full urodynamic evaluation, hysterectomy (abdominal and vaginal), laparoscopies, and hysteroscopies. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr. Biswas is an active researcher, with more than 25 publications and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. He is deeply committed to medical education, regularly teaching medical graduate and postgraduate trainees and serving as an examiner for the final MRCOG exams at the RCOG, London. Additionally, he contributes to the national obstetrics and gynaecology trainee selection for Health Education England.
