Dr Suvarna Mahavarkar is a Consultant Gynaecologist based in Bristol, specialising in women’s health and the management of a wide range of gynaecological conditions. She holds NHS consultant posts at St Michael’s Hospital and Weston General Hospital, both part of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. She also provides private care at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital.Dr Mahavarkar qualified in medicine in India in 1997 and completed postgraduate specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology before moving to the UK. She undertook UK specialist training across the East Midlands, Peninsula and Severn (South West) deaneries and has been a substantive NHS consultant since 2016.She is accredited by the British Society of Cervical Cytology and Pathology as a colposcopist and manages women with abnormal cervical screening results. She is the lead clinician for vulval skin conditions at St Michael’s Hospital, with experience in the assessment and treatment of complex gynaecological dermatological conditions.Her clinical practice includes the management of menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, vulval conditions, abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge, and menopause-related concerns. Dr Mahavarkar offers minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, including laparoscopic techniques, and provides transvaginal ultrasound scanning as part of a one-stop gynaecology service.
