Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr Dimitrios Miligkos has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Southampton since 2014. He completed a two and a half year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery for the excision of deep endometriosis after securing one of the five training posts offered annually in the UK; a testament to his excellence. He has been awarded a PhD on investigating the role of insulin-like growth factors in the pathogenesis of endometriosis, and continues to have a keen interest in medical research. Mr Miligkos is a BSGE accredited surgeon for the excision and management of severe rectovaginal endometriosis. Mr Miligkos performs advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and operative hysteroscopy and his areas of expertise are minimal access surgery and treatment of deep endometriosis, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). He also undertakes colposcopy, management of abnormal smears and vulval skin disorders. Mr Miligkos has wide surgical experience in laparoscopic hysterectomy (total, subtotal), laparoscopic excision of deep endometriosis and adnexal surgery, laparoscopic myomectomy, operative hysteroscopy, reproductive surgery, colposcopy and LLETZ. He is the Clinical Lead for Gynaecology and Outpatient Hysteroscopy and has led the development of a new ambulatory gynaecology suite in Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. Mr Miligkos has multiple research articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals and he participates in multi-centre medical research studies. He is passionate about continuing to progress medical care to the highest levels, caring for and treating women with the best possible treatment wherever possible.
