Mr. Yousri Afifi is a Consultant Gynaecologist with over 25 years of experience in laparoscopic and reproductive surgeries, as well as women's cancer care. He practices privately at the BMI Priory Hospital and has established himself as a leader in the field of minimally invasive surgery. Mr. Afifi holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham and has gained extensive training in advanced surgical techniques.He is the Director of the Birmingham Endometriosis Centre and has played a pivotal role in advancing care for patients with complex conditions, including endometriosis, infertility, fibroids, recurrent miscarriage, and ovarian problems. He is also the Lead Consultant of the Reproductive Surgery Unit at Birmingham Women's Hospital, where he manages a high volume of regional and national referrals.Mr. Afifi is renowned for introducing ovarian tissue autografting, a pioneering technique for patients who opt for the removal of their ovaries, effectively reversing the menopausal state without the need for artificial hormone replacement. His work in this area has led to the successful establishment of ovarian tissue freezing. He has developed innovative surgical techniques, including one for managing corneal ectopic pregnancies and another for improving laparoscopic entry, reducing the risks of injury.In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Afifi is highly involved in education and training. He is the Chair of Advanced Training at the West Midland School and one of the few approved national trainers for advanced laparoscopic surgery. He has authored over 20 publications and contributed to six textbook chapters. Mr. Afifi is also an invited speaker at over 50 national and international conferences and serves as the director of eight international surgical training courses.
