Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) involves the injection of a single spermatozoon directly inside the cytoplasm of the egg. It is a process that is performed by experienced embryologists under a specially modified microscope at high magnification using a micro-needle. It is a technique used when the sperm sample is very poor, or in cases where there has been little or no fertilization after classical IVF.
