About Mr

Mr Ashfaq Khan, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has been practising in London for the past 20 years. He is highly specialised in Colposcopy, vaginal birth, gentle caesarean section and vulval issues. He is currently the Lead Clinician for one of the largest centres in the UK handling these issues.Mr Khan did his training at several well respected London hospitals including St Bart's, the Royal London, Whipps Cross Hospital, and The Whittington Hospital. He continues to perform his research work at University College London on cervical cancer. He currently chairs a multi-disciplinary team that meets to decide on complex cases involving colposcopy and other genital tract diseases. Additionally, he is a very active member of the General Gynaecology MDT. Through this team, he works closely with physiotherapists and acupuncturists to provide a comprehensive treatment plan.Mr Khan has performed over 500 colposcopy examinations and treatments a year, as well as leading research examining the molecular immunology behind the connection between HPV infections and cervical pre-cancer. He is also a certified trainer of the British Colposcopy society and is a principal trainer at the Whittington Hospital Colposcopy Unit. He continues to contribute to medical education by supervising the Advanced Training Module of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for London Deanery.
