Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr Thomas Ind is a Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in gynaecological oncology and complex gynaecological surgery. He obtained his medical degree from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College (University of London) in 1989. In 1994 he was awarded a doctorate from the University of London for his work surrounding Placental Alkaline Phosphatase as a tumour marker in gynaecological malignancies. He became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians (RCOG) in 1995 and a Fellow in 2008. Mr Ind also holds other certificates, including a Level III certification in Laparoscopic Surgery from the RCOG. Mr Ind is also an accredited Colposcopist, certified by both the RCOG and BSCCP. Mr Ind was first appointed as a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon in 2001 at St George's Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. At The Royal Marsden Hospital, Mr Ind currently holds the position of Head of Department of Gynaecological Oncology and is also the Medical Director of Private Care. With his sub-specialist knowledge and expertise in gynaecological cancer, clients can rest assured that they are in safe hands. He also treats women suffering from common gynaecological conditions, including fibroids and endometriosis. He also provides diagnostic services for the early detection of cancer. Mr Ind has several years of experience performing laparoscopic and robotic surgery and was the first surgeon in the UK to perform a robotic hysterectomy. Since then he has performed 650 cases and has published widely on the subject. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Ind is actively involved in research and has authored several academic papers, books and book chapters, including Gray's Anatomy. Mr Ind also acts as an examiner for newly qualified doctors as well as a surgical skills tutor and an advocate of laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
