Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Dr Karen Joash is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist based in central London. She focuses on obstetrics and general gynaecology with particular expertise in early pregnancy care, maternal medicine, perinatal mental health, high-risk pregnancy management and outpatient hysteroscopy. Her private practice is based in Central London. She provides comprehensive obstetric care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal journey, supports personalised birth plans, and is experienced in waterbirths, natural caesareans and VBAC. Her practice includes perinatal mental health support, birth-trauma care, breastfeeding support and management of perineal complications. She also offers pre-pregnancy advice, reproductive endocrinology input, infertility checks and maternal medicine. In gynaecology, she provides general assessment and scanning, well-woman checks, contraception, HPV vaccination and cervical screening, fertility screening, outpatient hysteroscopy and day-case procedures. She manages menstrual disorders such as heavy or irregular bleeding and premenstrual issues, and treats fibroids, endometrial polyps, post-menopausal bleeding, polycystic ovarian syndrome, pelvic pain and vaginismus, including perineal refashioning after childbirth. Where appropriate, procedures are offered in an office setting. She is also a functional medicine expert and is able toconsult on all aspects of this holisitic approach. She works at The Portland Hospital in central London, and within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital in west London and at the Lindo Wing, St Mary’s Hospital in central London. In her NHS role at Imperial, she is the lead for postnatal care and leads maternity guidelines. She also leads outpatient hysteroscopy and performs early pregnancy scans.
