Dr Gergana Peeva is a highly qualified Consultant Obstetrician and accredited specialist in Fetal and Maternal Medicine, with more than 15 years of international clinical experience. She is an expert in caring for both low- and high-risk pregnancies, with particular expertise in multiple pregnancies, maternal obstetric complications, and fetal conditions such as anomalies and growth restriction.After completing her medical degree at the University of Cologne in Germany, Dr Peeva undertook specialty training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Zurich, Switzerland. She later moved to London, where she refined her expertise in high-risk obstetrics and fetal medicine at world-leading institutions including St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital. She is currently an NHS Consultant at Homerton University Hospital, where she leads services in fetal medicine and complex obstetrics.In 2018, Dr Peeva was awarded a PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid for her research into treatment options in complicated monochorionic pregnancies. She has published widely on maternal and fetal health, including prediction of pre-eclampsia, small-for-gestational-age babies, sickle cell pregnancies, and neurophysiology. Her research has contributed significantly to advancing the management of complex and high-risk pregnancies, and her main academic interest remains in complicated monochorionic twins.Alongside her clinical work, Dr Peeva is deeply committed to medical education. She holds a degree in Medical Education from King’s College London and is a Fellow of the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Learning Support in Higher Education. She serves as an accredited supervisor for specialist trainees and medical students, shaping the next generation of obstetricians.In 2023, Dr Peeva completed a degree in Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine at Harvard University, further strengthening her holistic approach to pregnancy care. She also holds the prestigious Diploma in Fetal Medicine, accredited by Professor Kypros Nicolaides, a pioneer in the field. She personally performs all forms of ultrasound scanning and invasive fetal procedures, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centred care that is tailored to each mother’s individual needs and expectations.
